Gorodnickis Named DII Men's Scholar All-American

Arturs Gorodnickis Named United Soccer Coaches NCAA DII Men's Scholar All-American

The United Soccer Coaches Association announced that ºÚÁÏÍøsenior  (Riga, Latvia/Riga) was named an NCAA DII Men's Soccer Scholar All-American for his efforts in the classroom and the pitch. Gorodnickis was awarded second team honors. 

Gorodnickis becomes the sixth player in Flyer history to make the team, joining Anthony Szymel (2008), Alec Pickett (2013), Devon Amoo-Mensah (2017), Domenic Baumann (2021),  (Tilburg, Netherlands/Mill-Hill College) (2023). He is one of four Great Lakes Valley Conference players to make the team as McKendree earned one and Maryville recorded two members.

Gorodonickis graduated this December with a Bachelor's Degree in Finance with a grade-point average of 3.87. On the field, the senior played in 21 contests with 19 starts while he recorded six goals and one assist while finishing second in points for the Flyers with 13. The Riga, Lativa native helped lead ºÚÁÏÍøto a 11-3-8 record, 9-1-4 in the GLVC for Lewis' first regular season title and ninth GLVC Tournament Title and first since 2007 and the program's fourth straight NCAA DII Tournament berth. 

This year's other accolades include a First Team All-GLVC selection, a Second Team United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region selection, and Second Team D2CCA All-Midwest Region honors. Gorodnickis was also named to the 2024 CSC NCAA Division II Academic All-America® Men's Soccer Team as well as Academic All-Midwest District on top of this distinction. 

Student-athletes on this year's Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception.
